I was the art kid growing up. To restaurant coloring pages, completing coloring books, art time in school, or covering the walls in childhood home with marker, crayon, paint, nail polish and I don’t remember what else. I think most artists had this interest when they were a child; therefore, in my eyes, creating as an adult makes you feel childlike happiness. However, the twist in this is the true reason that I am pursuing art is that I do not think I fit in any other category. I’ve never seen myself as a doctor or a lawyer; however, as a child, the only childhood dream I had was to be an artist or an astronaut. I quickly discovered when I was in middle school that I was probably not going to space, so I went with art instead. Art is also something I could rely on to make me happy. Pursuing this has made me realize now that I will be an artist to bring art into our everyday life in the most uplifting way possible, in the public where everyone can see it. Art that will be in plain sight and can Integrate its way into normal life. I want someone to look at something I’ve created so they can feel that random spark of wonder, joy, and nostalgia.

The materials usually come down to simplicity and how it feels when I use it. How it feels physically if said material is simple to use as well as if it is satisfying. Will the process of completing a piece bring me peace of mind without much headache? I’m an artist of many styles and mediums. Consistency is a struggle with most things but I must have some specific techniques that my friends and family can always point out, but I can never. Things that bring me inspiration are usually magical things that could be included in witchcraft along with things that can be earthy such as plants, bugs, small animals, and the outdoors. The natural world inspires me but what we can do with it in our creative minds inspires me even more.

There are many things that I have experimented with, such as ceramics, tufting, painting (most of the variety), and drawing (with most mediums). I enjoy it all very much. I am continuing my journey with my digital art as well as new mediums in painting, such as oil and gouache. I’m learning that I really like texture and adding multiple mediums to achieve the desired look. I’ve always been a fan of using colored pencils and graphite to do this. So in continuing my journey I’m going to find new ways to integrate new mediums, in new ways, to create more pieces of art that will continue to show my inspiration and my passions.
